Senior Civic Leader | Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning (CCESL)

With my continued dedication to CCESL, I was fortunate to be selected as the Senior Civic Leader. In this position I worked directly with Katie Flowers, the Director of CCESL, and other civic leaders. Civic Leaders are either club leaders or hired positions that are responsible in upholding the goals of the Compass Program (a four-tiered process to help students evolve into engaged citizens) and creating community through service activities. Specifically in my role I act as a support for these leaders in whatever needs they may have. I regularly conduct meetings to track progress throughout the semester. Additionally, I helped create a newsletter called the Compass Times with different service activities happening in the greater Geneva community to be distributed to the entire student body.

CCESL Intern/Civic Leader of Outreach | CCESL

During the summer of 2018, I was lucky to be hired as a CCESL Intern. In this role I split my time between three distinct tasks. First, I was responsible in organizing and executing the annual Community Sale. This entailed managing a group of twenty college students and ensuring all donations were brought to the venue and priced. The next part of the summer I spent my time on the Fribolin Farm. In this time I was able to learn many new skills, such as beekeeping, gardening, and some minor constructing. The last part of my duties involved helping the Assistant Director of CCESL in organizing the First-Year Day of Service. It was crucial that we had acquired plenty of sites to host 700+ students for a service day during orientation.

The following semester (Fall 2018) I was involved with the CCESL office as a Civic Leader of Outreach. My main priority was engaging with students, faculty, and staff to help increase awareness of different communtity service opportunities. Mainly, I was concerned with acquiring volunteers for the Community Lunch Program which is a local soup kitchen providing free lunch during the weekdays.
